In July, Google offered a package valued at approximately €470 million ($512 million) to the Cloud Infrastructure Services Providers in Europe (CISPE), a group of EU-based cloud firms, in an attempt to derail their antitrust settlement with Microsoft. This offer included €455 million worth of software licenses for Google’s cloud technology over five years, as well as €14 million in cash, as part of a long-term partnership proposal. Additionally, Amazon Web Services, a founding member of CISPE, contributed about €6 million to the offer.
CISPE Withdraws Complaint and Settles with Microsoft
CISPE decided to withdraw their complaint and instead opted for a settlement with Microsoft. This settlement allowed CISPE members to use enhanced Microsoft Azure features and deliver Microsoft applications and services on their local cloud infrastructures, along with a financial contribution of €10 million from Microsoft.
