An engineer, Pedro José Pereira Vieito, revealed that the application stored user conversations in plain text, making them easily accessible to malicious actors. This vulnerability was exacerbated by the fact that the application could be downloaded directly from OpenAI’s website, bypassing Apple’s security checks. OpenAI has since addressed this issue by implementing encryption to safeguard user conversations within the app.
