Located near Riyadh, the King Salman International Stadium is designed to be the highest-capacity stadium in Saudi Arabia, with a seating capacity of 92,000. This stadium, envisioned by Populous, blends into its surrounding topography and features a design that incorporates the natural habitat into its roof, providing effective shading and ventilation tailored to the desert climate.
In Al Khobar, the Aramco Stadium is being designed by Foster + Partners with a capacity of over 45,000. The stadium’s design is inspired by the local Dawwama phenomenon, featuring overlapping sail shapes and wave motifs that harmonize with the coastal landscape. The stadium will be easily accessible via public transport, bike paths, and pedestrian walkways, ensuring a convenient and eco-friendly experience for spectators.
The Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Stadium, located in Qiddiya City on the outskirts of Riyadh, is another notable project. Designed by Populous, it will have a capacity of 45,000 spectators and feature a fully combined retractable pitch, roof, and LED wall. The stadium will be built on top of the 200-metre-high Tuwaiq cliff in the new sports and entertainment district of Qiddiya City, showcasing Saudi Arabia’s commitment to innovative and modern infrastructure.
