At a recent company-wide meeting, OpenAI staff were presented with a sneak peek of the new logo, which features a simple, large black “O” or a ring. This design is a significant departure from the current hexagonal flower symbol, created by designer Ben Barry, which has been synonymous with OpenAI’s mission and values of precision, potential, and optimism.

The reaction to the new logo was overwhelmingly negative. Many employees felt the design was uninspired and lacked the creativity and essence of the current logo. Some even described the new design as “ominous” and “lacking in creativity”.
