The new iMac is driven by Apple’s M4 chip, which boasts a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU in the standard models, with options to upgrade to more powerful configurations. This hardware upgrade results in substantial performance improvements, making the iMac up to 1.7 times faster for everyday tasks and up to 2.1 times faster for more demanding tasks such as photo editing and gaming compared to the M1 iMac.

The M4 iMac has shown impressive results, outperforming its predecessors. It is 24% faster than the M3 iMac on the Geekbench 6 multi-core CPU test and 70% faster than the M1 iMac on the Geekbench 5 multi-core CPU test.

The iMac retains its stunning 24-inch 4.5K Retina display, now with the option for nano-texture glass, which reduces glare and reflections, making it ideal for use in various lighting conditions. The design remains sleek and thin, with the iMac available in an array of fresh, vibrant colors. The color-matched accessories, including the Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Mouse, now charge via USB-C.
