YouTube is introducing several features to provide viewers with reliable election information. When users search for federal election candidates, information panels will appear above the search results, highlighting the candidates’ political affiliations, and including links to their official websites or channels, as well as to Google Search for more detailed information.
Google Search is being enhanced to help users find authoritative information on voter registration. Through a partnership with Democracy Works, a nonpartisan nonprofit, Google Search will aggregate voter registration resources directly from state election offices. This feature aims to make the voter registration process more accessible by providing easy access to crucial information.
To ensure the authenticity of election-related apps, the Google Play Store is introducing a new badge that indicates an app is from an official government agency. Apps that meet specific requirements and submit the necessary forms will be eligible to display this “official endorsement” badge, helping users identify trustworthy sources of government information.
