Key Features of Story Comments

Visibility: Comments on Instagram Stories are only visible to people who follow the user who posted the story. This restriction helps in reducing unwanted attention from non-followers. Commenting: Only mutual follows, i.e., people who follow the poster and are followed back by the poster, can leave comments on the stories. This ensures that comments come from trusted connections. Ephemerality: Just like the stories themselves, comments will disappear after 24 hours. Users can screenshot meaningful interactions if they wish to preserve them. Control: Users have the option to disable comments on a story-by-story basis, providing flexibility and control over their interactions.

Anti-Trolling Measures
Instagram’s new feature is designed to combat trolling and maintain a wholesome comments section. By limiting comment visibility and restricting who can comment, the platform aims to reduce the likelihood of encountering negative or toxic comments. These measures align with Instagram’s broader efforts to create a more positive and safe social media environment.
