Users can now create and participate in group chats within the TikTok app, allowing for more interactive and communal experiences. These group chats can include up to 32 participants. To start a group chat, users can either tap the Chat button at the top of their TikTok inbox and select the names of the people they want to include, or they can initiate a group chat directly from a video by tapping the “Share” button and selecting “Create group chat with friends”.

Safeguards for Younger Users
The group chat feature is not available to users aged between 13 and 15 for safety reasons. For users aged 16 and 17, additional safeguards are in place: they can only join a group chat if it includes at least one mutual friend, and they must manually approve any new members who join a group chat they have created.
