X has activated a setting that allows it to train Grok AI on user tweets, interactions, inputs, and results by default, without notifying users about this change. This means all X users are automatically opted in to allow their posts and interactions to be used for training and fine-tuning Grok AI.

Security experts and users have raised concerns about this practice, arguing that it undermines user trust and has potential implications for data misuse. Matthew Hodgson, CEO of Element, highlighted that this could lead to privacy breaches or the creation of biased algorithms, especially given the presence of fake news and extremist views on the platform.

How to Opt Out
Users who do not want their data used for training Grok AI must manually opt out. To do this, they need to:

– Open the X website on a desktop computer.
– Log in and click on “More.”
– Select “Settings and privacy.”
– Click on “Privacy and safety.”
– Click on “Grok.”
– Uncheck the box that reads: “Allow your posts as well as your interactions, inputs and results with Grok to be used for training and fine-tuning”.
